Klaus Becker - President

Klaus has been active in the International Steel Trading business for 35 years; 30 of which have been as owner or co-owner of his own companies. Klaus received a masters' degree of National Economics and Business Administration from Ruhr-Universität in Bochum, Germany, and is fluent in five languages. He was voted Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young in North Carolina in 1996 and by the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce in 1998. Klaus has also acted as President of the Charlotte World Trade Organization, and served on the board of the World Affairs Council Charlotte.  He has recently been President of the N.C. Chapter of the German-American Chamber of Commerce.

Aurea Barbee

Aurea Barbee is from Manila, Philippines.  She emigrated to the USA in 1987 and acquired her American citizenship in 1997.  Aurea has been married to Ronald for 21 years and they have a son.

Aurea has known Klaus for about 25 years.  They worked together at SouthStar Steel Corporation.  In 1999,  Aurea joined BecMen LLC.  Then in 2009, Klaus founded Nirosteel and reconnected with Aurea.

Aurea handles the order processing, logistics and documentation.  She also handles customer service and transacts with suppliers.  Aurea can be contacted at aurea.barbee@nirosteel.com.

Lucinda Williams

Lucinda is a native of the Netherlands has been working and living in Charlotte since graduating from Guildford College with a BA in English in 1989.  She joined Klaus and his business partner, Mark Menzies, in 1989 at BecMen LLC and has worked in the steel business ever since.

In 2011 Lucinda joined Nirosteel where she is charged with handling all stock orders, sales, and logistics. Additionally, she manages custom orders; ensuring accuracy and completion while coordinating between the suppliers and customers.

Lucinda enjoys any and all outdoor activities – namely tennis, skiing, and hiking.  She has been married to her husband John for 17 years and has three children, who keep her busy when not at work. She may be contacted at: lucinda.williams@nirosteel.com

Larisa Demling

Larisa is a recent addition to the Nirosteel team and works as the Accounting Manager. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2012 and holds dual Bachelors of Science degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Maryland. Additionally, she has an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Parkland College. Larisa is continuing her education and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Accounting Management with a dual MBA.

In this accounting position, Larisa handles all the accounting and finance needs of the company. She is charged with accounts payable, accounts receivable, foreign currency hedging, and all internal and external financial reporting.

Larisa is originally from central Illinois. She and her husband, Charles, have moved often over their 14 years of marriage due to Charles’ career in the United States Marine Corps.
